Channeling ideas.

Good ideas can come from anyone. However, the likelihood of an idea being given an internal funding opportunity is higher where it can be assigned to a search field. If this is clear, we can better motivate our employees to participate in idea management.

What defines a search field?

The area of a search field is determined by 4 questions:

1. Market

– Which markets are we in today & do we want to be in tomorrow?

2. Strategy

– what do we NOT want to do?

3. Technology

– which technologies do we master (today & tomorrow)?

4. Core competence

– what can we do better than anyone else?

The problem is more important than the solution.

What use are answers to questions that have never been asked? We have to make sure that we have understood the practice, the application correctly. What the customer really needs. And that is often not what the customer has already recognized and is already able to articulate. Because then he will certainly not only reveal it to us but also to our competitors – and we are already in the time trap!

In the search field, we primarily look for the user’s problems – not the solutions!
